About the person

Before my laboratory time I worked 14 years in two small animal clinics, Toplica in Slovenia and Tierklinik Hollabrunn in Austria. My areas there have been diverse, such as routine patient examinations, anaesthesia, diagnostic oncology and oncological care of patients including chemotherapy and intensive medicine. My preferences and passion belonged also in this time to cytology and laboratory diagnostics.
I first enjoyed Veterinary Clinical Pathology on a specialist level during a professional two-week working visit to the UK at Dick White Referrals in January 2010. There I was recommended for a residency at the European College for Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ECVCP), which I successfully completed at Laboratory InVitro Vienna (today’s Idexx) from 2011 to 2015.
I passed the ECVCP College board examination in 2017 and became a European Certified and Recognized Specialist for Veterinary Clinical Pathology, a Dip ECVCP.
Veterinary Clinical Pathology tasks are diverse and include evaluation, interpretation and reporting cytology cases, blood films, interpreting haematological, biochemistry/hormone results and results from urinalysis in dogs, cats, small mammals, horses, ruminants, pigs and some exotic animals. Further, managing quality control, validation and establishment of reference intervals on diverse laboratory analysers (Haematology, Biochemistry, Hormones etc).
Training laboratory employees, performing educations for veterinarians, lab-technicians and producing scientific publications. Advising of laboratory facilities about space, work-flow, placement, environmental conditions (humidity, room temperature, vibration ect)
